Defibtech Lifeline AED Overview

The Defibtech Lifeline AED’s flexibility to fit the needs of any environment makes it a great choice for:

  • Schools
  • Communities
  • Small businesses

With its bright yellow and black coloring and easy-to-use interface, this device stands out anywhere for optimal visibility amongst lay rescuers. Text, lights, and voice guides are used throughout the process. Layered step-by-step instructions like “check pads,” “do not touch,” and “analyzing”  light up as the rescue progresses.

Worried about storing the AEDs accessories? The electrode pads can be tucked into the back pocket of the device for quick and easy application. Weighing just 4.2 pounds and designed with a rubberized grip handle, the Defibtech Lifeline can be easily transported to school sporting activities or community events.

Semi-Automatic vs. Fully-Automatic Lifeline AEDs

All Defibtech Lifeline devices have a large green “Power On” button that lives at the top center of the device. Additionally, semi-automatic devices also have a large, red “SHOCK” button as these devices require some user intervention. After analyzing the patient’s heart rhythm, a semi-automatic AED prompts the rescuer to initiate the shock if one is needed. This extra step of clicking the shock button ultimately leaves it up to the user to decide, making it better suited for those who have had training or AED experience with defibrillators.

A fully automatic model automatically administers a shock to the patient without the rescuer’s help. After the electrode pads are connected, fully automatic AEDs detect an irregular rhythm, automatically analyze the condition, and do the work for you. The Defibtech Lifeline AED fully automatic model may be particularly beneficial for individuals who have never been trained or handled an AED device in the past.

Defibtech Lifeline Standard AED Battery vs. High Capacity Battery

When purchasing your Defibtech Lifeline model, you will have two battery pack options to choose from – standard and high-capacity. Both batteries are made from Lithium/Manganese Dioxide, however, the standard lasts 5 years when installed in the devices, while the high capacity lasts 7 years.

Have physicians, first responders, or other medical professionals in your line of business? If yes, then the high-capacity is an excellent choice as this battery allows the device up to 300 shocks or 16 hours of continuous operation.

The standard battery may be more equipped for a small business that may not necessarily expect to use this device unless an unexpected cardiac emergency arises in the store. Standard batteries allow 125 shocks or 8 hours of continuous operation.

Defibtech Lifeline Reviews From Real Customers

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Firefighter-paramedic-EMR-ER-ARC RN

I bought my Defibtech AED 15 years ago and have used it many times. I now volunteer with my local fire department and American Red Cross as a Dat-Fast-Shelter-Team RN “Where I go, it goes.” I highly recommend any first responder to get one and carry it on you 24/7. P.S. I always tease the patient after they recover from an AMI-Cardiac Arrest that they owe me new AED pads, lol!

It’s all good..

Everything was received in a timely manner and instructions were easy to follow. Only wish that the DVD provided was for the fully automatic unit that we purchased. Trust our church never needs to use the unit but am glad we now have on handy.

Defibtech Lifeline VIEW Overview

The Defibtech Lifeline VIEW is an advanced version of the Defibtech Lifeline model including a large, full-color interactive display.

This screen has the capability to show:

  • Step-by-step visual and voice instructions for performing CPR, rescue breathing, and external defibrillation
  • Full text that follows detailed voice prompts
  • Built-in metronome that assists with CPR compression rate

Not only is this device still under the 3lbs weight, but it is even more rugged and durable than the Defibtech Lifeline VIEW making it more suitable for harsh environments and high-vibration settings like helicopters, boats, or emergency vehicles. Not only can the Defibtech Lifeline VIEW resist water and dust, but it is crush resistant up to 1000 lbs.

Defibtech Lifeline VIEW ECG Overview

The Defibtech Lifeline VIEW has all of the same great features as the regular Defibtech Lifeline VIEW AED, however, this device comes with two operating modes:

  • AED mode
  • ECG “Manual Mode,” which displays ECG data and event information (with 3-lead electrodes)

The ECG monitoring feature or “Manual Mode” is what makes this device a favorite among healthcare providers and professional emergency responders. By simply pressing the softkey button to “Manual Mode” a visual of the patient’s rhythm as well as operator-initiated charge, shock, and disarm functions appear on the screen. This gives rescuers the ability to override the AED features of the defibrillator and deliver a shock independent of the AED mode.

*Note: “Manual Mode” should only be used by authorized operators who have been specifically trained in cardiac rhythm recognition in manual defibrillation therapy.

Defibtech Lifeline VIEW Aviation Overview

The Defibtech Lifeline VIEW Aviation device is similar to the Defibtech Lifeline VIEW with the exception that it has aviation capabilities. To meet the requirements of an aircraft environment, the Defibtech Lifeline VIEW Aviation has earned approval from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) through a Technical Standard Order (TSO) Certificate. TSO certification from the FAA is a list of standards used to approve devices like an AED among other materials and processes on board an aircraft.

How is the Aviation model different from the others? The standard battery on these devices is replaced with a TSO-C142 aviation battery pack that allows the device to function up to 15,000 feet.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does the 9V battery inside the battery pack do?

The 9V battery in the battery pack provides power for the self-test functions of the Automated External Defibrillator (AED). This arrangement conserves the primary battery’s energy, allowing it to be fully available for the crucial operation of the AED machine in a rescue scenario.

What is the difference between the semi-automatic and fully-automatic versions of the Lifeline AED?

The semi-automatic Lifeline AED requires the user to press a shock button to administer a shock, while the fully-automatic version delivers the shock automatically without user intervention. With the semi-automatic AED, the rescuer is prompted to press the button when it’s time to deliver the shock.

On the other hand, the fully-automatic AED instructs the rescuer to stand back and automatically proceeds with the shock. The Automatic Lifeline AED is recommended by AEDSuperstore for places where individuals might not feel confident about manually triggering the shock.

What does the screen on the Lifeline VIEW do?

The screen on the Defibtech Lifeline VIEW AED displays visual instructions, which are designed to work in conjunction with the audio instructions to guide the rescuer through the rescue process. This feature is especially beneficial in loud environments, or for rescuers who are hearing impaired, or do not speak English, ensuring comprehensive guidance is provided.

Is the Lifeline VIEW AED durable?

Yes, the Defibtech Lifeline VIEW AED is highly durable, having been tested to meet military standards for shock and vibration.

What is the difference between the Lifeline VIEW and the Lifeline VIEW with ECG?

The Lifeline VIEW with ECG includes all of the features of the VIEW, plus professional responders can switch to a display mode that shows the patient’s ECG. This “Manual Mode” should only be used by authorized operators who have been specifically trained in cardiac rhythm recognition in manual defibrillation therapy.

What makes the Defibtech Aviation VIEW/ECG model able to be used on an aircraft?

The Defibtech Lifeline VIEW/ECG Aviation model has a special TSO-C142 aviation battery pack that allows the device to function up to 15,000 feet. These devices are all approved by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) through a Technical Standard Order (TSO) Certificate. TSO certification from the FAA is a list of standards used to approve devices like an AED among other materials and processes on board an aircraft.
